Scientific Literature Review - Supplemental Research Bulletin
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the agency within the Department of Health and Human Services charged with improving Americans’ behavioral health. SAMHSA’s Disaster Technical Assistance Center (DTAC) providers resources to disaster response efforts in states, territories, tribes, and localities.
To help disaster response teams stay up to date on the state of the science and trends in disaster-related behavioral health, DTAC releases semi-annual Supplemental Research Bulletins. I’m proud to have authored two Supplemental Research Bulletins under contract to SAMHSA DTAC:
For these reviews, I conducted a structured search of peer-reviewed articles published within the last five years with a focus U.S. settings. After reviewing abstracts for relevancy, I used a combination of bibliography and forward citation sampling (articles that cite the current article) to identify additional sources. Findings were grouped by theme to create the sub-headings of each bulletin.
